This bill makes Ivan Cruz eligible to take the competitive civil service exam for the position of deputy sheriff in the Broome County sheriff's office. If he scores well enough, he can be placed on the eligible list for appointment. He will still need to meet the merit and fitness requirements of the civil service law. The act takes effect immediately.
