This bill extends the presumptive eligibility period for certain retirement benefits for injuries or illnesses related to World Trade Center rescue, recovery, and clean-up operations from 25 to 35 years. It allows retirees who participated in these operations and died from a qualifying condition within 35 years of retirement to be eligible for accidental death benefits. The bill also specifies that if the retiree's or vestee's beneficiary is not the only one receiving benefits, the accidental death benefit payments will be reduced by any amounts paid to other beneficiaries.
