Exempts school districts within a ten-mile nuclear emergency zone from zero-emission school bus requirements.
This bill amends the education law to exempt school districts located wholly or partially within a ten-mile plume exposure pathway emergency planning zone surrounding a nuclear power facility from the requirement of only purchasing, leasing, and operating zero-emission school buses. The exemption does not prevent these districts from voluntarily using zero-emission buses. The commissioner must publish a list of qualifying districts.
