Allows nursing home patients or their representatives to install and maintain electronic monitoring devices in their rooms.
This bill amends the public health law to allow nursing home patients or their representatives to install, operate, and maintain electronic monitoring devices in the patient's room at their own expense. The device must only capture video or audio of the patient's personal space. Audio capture requires written consent from all roommate patients or their representatives. A report on the installation and consent received must be maintained by the facility administrator as part of the patient record.
