Provides death benefits for deputy sheriffs employed by Orange County.

This bill amends the retirement and social security law to provide certain death benefits to deputy sheriffs employed by Orange County. Beneficiaries may elect to receive a lump sum equal to the pension reserve that would have been established had the deputy sheriff retired on the date of their death. The county of Orange will bear all past service costs associated with implementing the provisions of this act, which may be amortized over a period of ten years. The bill takes effect immediately.
