Extends the time period for filing a mechanic's lien on single family dwellings.
The bill amends the lien law to increase the period during which a mechanic's lien may be filed on single family dwellings. Previously, the notice of lien could be filed within eight months after the completion of the contract or final performance of the work. The bill changes this to allow filing within twelve months. This change applies to all contracts and improvements for which the time to file a notice of a mechanic's lien has not expired on or after the effective date of the bill.
