This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to exempt municipal employees from commercial driver's license requirements when operating vehicles owned or leased by a city, town, village, or county for intrastate governmental purposes. Covered operations include snow and ice control, maintenance of highways, roads, bridges, and rights-of-way, water and sewer maintenance, and emergency or disaster response. Municipal employees must complete a motor vehicle skills and safety examination and follow internal driver training and certification programs.
