Allows parents of a child who has ever received services through an English as a second language program to serve on the citywide council on English.
The bill amends the education law to allow parents of a child who has ever received services through an English as a second language program to serve as a member of the citywide council on English language learners and of the citywide council on high schools, even if the child is no longer enrolled. These members are appointed by the citywide council on English language learners and serve a two-year term, with the possibility of continuing their term after their child's enrollment in a bilingual or English as a second language program concludes.
