This bill amends the retirement and social security law to allow Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMT) in the New York City Employees' Retirement System (NYCERS) to purchase up to one year of service credit for each period of authorized unpaid childcare leave. EMTs and AEMTs must file a claim within 90 days of the leave's termination or by December 31, 2026, and contribute the amount they would have paid during the leave, plus interest.
