This bill amends the civil service law to provide additional credit for military spouses and surviving spouses of veterans in competitive examinations. Military spouses receive three points for original appointment and one and a half points for promotion. Surviving spouses receive six points for both original appointment and promotion. The bill takes effect immediately.
