New York A07558 amends the workers' compensation law to allow the enrollment of a surviving spouse, a surviving domestic partner, a dependent child or children, or any other person entitled to a death benefit in direct deposit for compensation payments. The board is authorized to create rules and regulations for administering these direct deposits, including the ability to split payments between multiple accounts. If an employer or insurance carrier fails to enroll an eligible person within 25 days of a request, penalties are imposed. This act takes effect immediately.
