Allows first responders diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to request line of duty sick leave.
This bill amends the general municipal law to allow first responders diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to request line of duty sick leave. The state will reimburse public authorities or municipal corporations of less than one million people for the cost of this leave. Employees currently using sick leave for post-traumatic stress disorder will receive a retroactive restoration of their leave. Employers are prohibited from taking adverse personnel actions against first responders using this leave.
