Extends the answer time for tenants when a major capital improvement rent increase has been filed to ninety days.
The bill amends the administrative code of the city of New York and the emergency tenant protection act of 1974 to extend the time a tenant has to respond to a major capital improvement rent increase application from sixty to ninety days. This applies to rent increases due to major capital improvements approved between June 16, 2012, and June 16, 2019. The bill also specifies that temporary major capital improvement increases should not include retroactive payments and should not exceed two percent annually from the effective date of the order granting the increase.
