New York A00845 amends the vehicle and traffic law to allow the legislative body of any county or, if delegated, any locality within the county, to establish school speed limits of not less than 15 miles per hour on state highways passing a school building. This applies to highways passing a school building, entrance, or exit, within a distance of up to 1,320 feet. The absence of speed limit signs is considered evidence that no higher limit than the statutory 55 mph has been set. This act takes effect on November 1 following its enactment.
