This bill amends the correction law and the social services law to ensure that eligible incarcerated individuals are enrolled in the medical assistance for needy persons program. It also mandates that incarcerated individuals found ineligible for the medical assistance program are assisted in applying for other medical insurance programs if they wish to enroll. The commissioner of health is required to study and report annually on the enrollment of applicants in the custody of the department.
