Adds community college representatives as voting members of the SUNY board of trustees and allows county boards to appoint trustees if the governor.
This bill amends the education law to add members to the board of trustees of the State University of New York (SUNY) who represent the interests of community colleges as full voting members. It also provides that if the governor fails to appoint a trustee within 180 days of a vacancy on a board of trustees of a community college, the local legislative body or board of the county in which such community college is located may appoint a trustee. These new trustees will be uncompensated and serve for three years, with the possibility of reappointment.
