Allows great-grandparents to apply for visitation rights with minor great-grandchildren if parents are deceased.
This bill amends the domestic relations law and the family court act to allow a great-grandparent to apply to the supreme court for visitation rights with respect to certain minor great-grandchildren where either or both of the parents of such child is or are deceased. The court may make directions for visitation rights as the best interest of the child may require. The bill also amends the family court act to include great-grandparents in the jurisdiction to determine custody or visitation of minors.
