New York's "small cannabis farmer relief act" allows certain cultivators to expand their canopy. Distressed farmers who cultivated cannabis in 2022 or 2023 can double their canopy size, up to the maximum allowed by their cultivation tier. Microbusiness licensees who previously held an adult-use conditional cultivator license are also eligible. The expanded area must comply with environmental, security, and testing regulations. The act takes effect immediately and expires on December 31, 2028.
