New York S08270 amends the domestic relations law to set the effectiveness and duration of automatic orders in matrimonial actions.
New York S08270 amends the domestic relations law to establish that automatic orders in matrimonial actions take effect immediately upon the filing of the summons or summons and complaint. These orders remain in full force and effect until the judgment of divorce is entered or the action is dismissed, discontinued, or stayed. If either party receives notice of a tax lien, foreclosure, bankruptcy, litigation, or the lifting of a stay in bankruptcy that could adversely affect the marital estate, they must notify the other party within ten days.
