Reduces tuition rates for out-of-state Olympic athletes training in New York.
New York Senate Bill S08220 amends the education law to reduce tuition rates for out-of-state Olympic athletes who are training in New York. These athletes, defined as Team USA athletes, must meet eligibility standards set by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee and the national governing body for their sport. The bill applies to students enrolled in institutions or educational units of the State University of New York. The tuition rate for these athletes will be no greater than that imposed on New York residents. The bill takes effect on July 1 following its enactment.
