The bill allows the Centerport Fire District to submit an application for exemption from school taxes and real property taxes. If the application is accepted, the assessor of the town of Huntington, county of Suffolk, may grant the exemption upon approval by the town of Huntington governing board. If the exemption is granted, the governing body or tax department may refund any taxes paid and cancel any remaining unpaid taxes, fines, penalties, interest, or tax liens. The bill takes effect immediately.
