Extends the authority of the department of environmental conservation to manage blackfish.
The bill amends the environmental conservation law to extend the authority of the department of environmental conservation to manage blackfish. This includes setting regulations for size limits, catch and possession limits, open and closed seasons, closed areas, and other measures. These regulations must be no less restrictive than existing requirements and must comply with fishery management plans from the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and the Federal Fishery Conservation and Management Act. The act takes effect immediately.
