New York S07582 mandates blood lead level screenings for children and environmental investigations when high lead levels are detected.
New York S07582 amends the public health law to require primary care providers to recommend follow-up blood lead level screenings to parents if a child's blood lead levels are between 15 and 24.99 micrograms per deciliter. If a child's blood lead level exceeds 25 micrograms per deciliter, the department of health must ensure an environmental investigation is conducted. If the investigation is not completed within 180 days, the department must finish it immediately. The department can also collect costs from entities responsible for the investigation. This act takes effect immediately.
