This bill amends the social services law to allow the use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for purchasing menstrual products, including sanitary napkins, tampons, and panty liners. The Department of Social Services must apply for a federal waiver or authorization to implement this change. The bill takes effect immediately but the waiver or authorization must occur for the amendment to be fully effective.
