Establishes minimum educational requirements for town and village justices in New York.
New York S07008 amends the uniform justice court act to allow towns and villages to require that any person serving as a town or village justice be admitted to practice law in the state. Any changes to these requirements will take effect at the start of the next judicial term following the election after the local law is enacted. This act will become effective on January 1 of the year following its enactment.
