Prohibits the sale of used oil and establishes civil and criminal penalties.
New York S06762 amends the environmental conservation law to prohibit the sale of used oil, except to oil rerefining facilities. It also prohibits the sale of used oil disposal kits and the improper disposal of used oil. Violators face civil penalties, with additional penalties for each day of continued violation. Knowingly selling used oil is a misdemeanor, punishable by fines and/or imprisonment. The act takes effect on May 1 of the year following its enactment.
