Authorizes local school districts and municipalities to set school speed limits.
This bill amends the vehicle and traffic law to allow local school districts and municipalities to determine and establish maximum speed limits in school zones. These limits can be higher or lower than the statutory 55 miles per hour limit, but must not be less than 25 miles per hour, except for school speed limits which can be as low as 15 miles per hour for a distance up to 1,320 feet.
