Establishes the construction insurance notification act (CINA) requiring notification of governmental agencies and departments when certain.
The construction insurance notification act (CINA) amends the insurance law by adding a new section 3428-a. Insurers issuing contracts or policies covering activities within New York must inquire if the insurance is for obtaining a permit for construction activities. If so, applicants must provide details of the governmental agency or department. Insurers must notify these agencies or departments within ten days if a policy lapses or is canceled. Failure to notify results in the policy remaining in effect for its term. The act takes effect 90 days after becoming law.
