The bill establishes a housing succession rights task force within the division of housing and community renewal. The task force will conduct a state-wide study of succession rights in rent stabilized, public housing, and city or municipal owned buildings. The study will review current approaches to succession rights, their impact, and alternative methods. The task force will issue a report by January 1, 2026, to the governor, the speaker of the assembly, the temporary president of the senate, and the chairpersons of the housing committees in both the assembly and senate.
