New York S06147 amends the family court act to include rape in the third degree, rape in the second degree, and rape in the first degree as family offenses. The family court and criminal courts will have concurrent jurisdiction over these offenses. The definition of "members of the same family or household" is expanded to include various relationships, such as those related by consanguinity or affinity, legally married, formerly married, having a child in common, or in an intimate relationship. The act takes effect immediately.
