Prohibits insurance companies from requiring disclosure of HIV diagnosis or HIV-related tests for life insurance.
This bill amends the insurance law to prohibit insurance companies from requiring individuals to disclose if they have been diagnosed with an HIV infection or HIV-related illness or to submit to an HIV-related test before issuing or renewing a life insurance policy. The bill defines "HIV infection" as an infection with the human immunodeficiency virus or any related virus identified as a probable causative agent of AIDS. It also defines "HIV-related test" as any laboratory test for any virus, antibody, antigen, or etiologic agent thought to cause or indicate the presence of AIDS.
