Provides supplemental aid to low spending high need school districts starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
New York S06014 amends the education law to provide supplemental aid to school districts that spend less per pupil but have higher needs. This aid, termed "supplemental low spending high need aid," is payable starting in the 2026-2027 school year and thereafter. The amount of aid is calculated based on the difference between the district's spending and regional average spending, as well as the district's needs resource index. The aid per pupil is capped at $750. This bill affects school districts in New York, particularly those that are low spending but have high needs.
