This bill amends the penal law by adding a new section that establishes the crime of larceny of a controlled substance. It makes it a class A-II felony to steal more than 25 dosage units of a schedule II, III, IV, or V controlled substance from a pharmacy. The bill defines "pharmacy" as any place where drugs, prescriptions, or poisons are compounded, preserved, dispensed, retailed, or offered for sale at retail. The act will take effect on the first of November following its enactment.
