New York S05736 amends the vehicle and traffic law to expand eligibility for designated disability license plates. The bill allows parents or guardians of severely disabled children to qualify for these plates for each vehicle they own or use for their disabled child. Previously, only the disabled person could qualify. The commissioner of motor vehicles will issue one set of plates for each vehicle used by the disabled person or their family members who reside with them. The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
