The bill amends the social services law to set a cap on monthly payments for hotel rooms used to house homeless individuals. The cap is set at 75% of the New York City Housing Authority Section 8 voucher payment standard for studio apartments, prorated daily. This provision applies in cities with a population greater than one million, except for hotels contracted south of 96th Street. The law takes effect immediately.
