Increases the daily allowance for trial and grand jurors in New York's unified court system.
This bill amends the judiciary law to increase the daily allowance for trial and grand jurors from $40 to $72 in each court of the unified court system. Employers are still allowed to withhold wages for the first three days of jury service, but they cannot withhold the first $72 of a juror's daily wages. If a juror's daily wages are less than $72, they will receive an allowance equal to the difference. The costs for providing food and lodging for jurors will be covered by the state.
