Prohibits the use of lead ammunition in the taking of wildlife on state-owned land and land contributing to the New York City water supply.
The bill amends the environmental conservation law to prohibit the use of lead ammunition in the taking of wildlife on wildlife management areas, state forests, forest preserves, state parks, or any other state-owned land open for hunting. It also bans lead ammunition on land contributing surface water to the New York City water supply. Lead ammunition is defined as any ammunition containing one or more percent of lead by weight. The act will take effect on January 1, 2027.
