Permits and encourages state-owned parking facilities to install solar canopies in parking garages, open parking lots, or other parking facilities.
New York S04061 amends the executive law to permit and encourage the installation of solar canopies in state-owned parking facilities constructed before January 1, 2030. The Office of General Services is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of these solar canopies. If the office cannot complete these tasks, the state may contract with a licensed electrician or similar service provider. The act requires compliance with labor law provisions, including the payment of a wage not less than the prevailing wage in the locality where the solar canopy is located.
