New York S03848 requires the education commissioner to develop curriculum or instruction for school districts about the historical treatment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals. Schools can incorporate this material into their social studies curriculum or another method they find suitable. The law takes effect July 1, 2026, and applies to school years starting on or after that date.
