New York S03524 amends the workers' compensation law to increase the maximum amount of family leave time employees can take in a year. The bill sets the maximum duration of family leave at twelve weeks for periods starting on or after January 1, 2018, and increases it to twenty-six weeks for periods starting on or after January 1, 2026. The weekly benefit for family leave is also adjusted to be fifty percent of the employee's average weekly wage, not exceeding fifty-five percent of the state average weekly wage.
