The Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act mandates that certain business entities within New York annually disclose their scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emissions. Scope 1 emissions include all direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources owned or directly controlled by the reporting entity. Scope 2 emissions involve indirect greenhouse gas emissions from consumed electricity, steam, heating, or cooling. Scope 3 emissions encompass indirect upstream and downstream greenhouse gas emissions from sources not owned or controlled by the reporting entity.
