The bill establishes a task force to conduct a comprehensive study on the presence of educator diversity in New York, state actions taken to promote it, and how the state can encourage new initiatives to enhance and promote educator diversity. The task force will examine barriers preventing students of color from entering and remaining in the teaching profession, mentorship programs, scholarship opportunities, and initiatives to encourage teachers of color to become school leaders. The task force will submit a report to the governor and legislature by December 31, 2027.
