The "language barrier elimination act" requires agencies and contractors to provide language assistance services to limited English proficient individuals. If at least 10% of individuals in a primary language group seek or receive services, agencies must provide Level II language assistance services immediately. If between 2% and 10% of individuals in a primary language group seek or receive services, agencies must provide Level I language assistance services within 24 hours.
