New York S02108 allows parking tickets to be served by mail and extends the response time for such tickets.
New York S02108 amends the vehicle and traffic law to allow parking tickets to be served by first-class mail. If the vehicle owner did not receive the initial notice in a timely fashion, they can send a notarized statement to contest the ticket. The bill also extends the response time for mail-served tickets. Photographs used to document parking violations must be reviewed and approved by a municipal employee, and cannot be used for other purposes. Signage must be posted to indicate when camera enforcement is in use.
