New York S01920 amends the executive law to mandate that all state and municipal employees retain electronic mail for seven years from the date of creation. This applies to any employee of the state or any municipal subdivision, as well as any department, bureau, board, commission, authority, or other agency or instrumentality of the state or any municipal subdivision. The act takes effect immediately.
