New York S01035 requires election commissioners and other designated board of elections employees to complete a mandatory training curriculum within six months of their appointment. The curriculum, established by the state board of elections in consultation with election commissioners, must not exceed thirty hours. Additionally, these officials must complete an annual refresher course before June 1. Failure to comply results in a letter being sent to the county legislature, city council, and the respective county party chair. The act takes effect 180 days after becoming law.
