This bill amends the civil practice law and rules, the general municipal law, and the court of claims act to extend the time in which a person can bring a civil action to recover damages for physical, psychological, or other injury or condition suffered while in state custody. The statute of limitations for such actions is extended to three years after the person is released from custody. This applies to claims against municipal corporations, cities, counties, towns, and villages.
