New York State Senate Bill S00788 amends the public health law to include guardians of the principal as a person who may commence certain special proceedings. It also mandates that if a hospital can ascertain the identity of the parents or guardian of an emancipated minor patient and obtain their contact information, the hospital must notify these individuals and document such notification in the patient's medical record before withholding or withdrawing life-sustaining treatment.
