Establishes parole eligibility for incarcerated individuals aged fifty-five or older who have served at least fifteen years of their sentence.
This bill amends the executive law to create parole eligibility for certain incarcerated persons who have reached the age of fifty-five and have served at least fifteen years of their sentence. The New York State Division of Parole must interview these individuals within sixty days of their fifty-fifth birthday or the last day of their fifteenth year of incarceration, whichever is later. If parole is granted, the individual will be released to community supervision.
