The Democracy Preservation Act prohibits foreign-influenced business entities from making contributions or donations in connection with state or local elections. It also bans these entities from making expenditures, independent expenditures, or disbursements for political communications. The act defines a foreign-influenced business entity as one with at least one foreign owner holding 50% or more of the equity or voting shares, or two or more foreign owners holding 5% or more collectively.
